AHW signed a contract with OIE Director General, Monique Eloit to conduct a risk-assessment study on the incursion of exotic FMD serotypes and strains into South-East Asia.

With Joao Afonso (animal health economics), Socheat Sieng (value-chain analysis) and Melissa McLaws (risk analysis) an expert team is created to safeguard swift implementation of this study, including country visits to Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam and Bangladesh.

Follow-up was given by presenting the results at the 23rd National Consultants meeting of SEACFMD in Pakse, Lao PDR in August, including an one-day workshop on Risk assessment of FMD incursions into SE Asia.
